So I went to the preview of Katz 21's new Southside location and it was quite impressive! It was a gorgeous building both inside and outside, which is necessary if you have high food prices! My only concern was the amount of dining space. They had a fabulous & roomy bar area inside and outside, which took up half the building! Then there was a large banquet space... leaving 1/4 of the bottom floor to seated dining. When you think about it, you may be waiting quite a bit for a table or chancing it in the bar area! (We never did find out what goes on upstairs though.... If they were smart they would add more dining tables up there! I guess something else could be going on up there...) Ok so as far as the food goes... it was also impressive! They had some bacon wrapped shrimp that made me go back for seconds! Their mini sliders were perfectly cooked, yet the crab cakes were a bit dry. Ohh and their deserts were sooo delicious! They had some petit fours that had everybody talking, although I was a much bigger fan of the chocolate mousse with the espresso bean on top!! Overall, I am very interested to make another visit when they are officially open!!
